Sant Llorenç de Montgai and Camarasa have some of oldest climbing areas of Catalonia. This areas together with Santa Linya, Cubells, Tartareu, Vilanova de Meià, Terradets… offers a large variety of routes. There you can find from short and easy routes for beginners to extremely difficult ones for experts.
Most of Sant Llorenç de Montgai cliffs are in valleys and face south, for this reason routes are in ideal conditions during autumn, winter and spring. While Camarasa single-pitch routes face north-west therefore are perfect for summer mornings.
Cova Gran of Santa Linya is the centrepiece of the region. It is nearly 40m high and it overhangs for about 35m with more than 60 routes not under 8b. Only for experts.
In the area surrounding the reservoir of Cavallers there are numerous climbing routes with different degrees of difficulty, ranging from 10 to 1,000 meters of climbing on magnificent granite. Climbing routes can also be found in the proximity of the refuge Ventosa and Calvell and the Spires of Travessany and Mangades. There is also a number of appealing and difficult routes above 2,500 metres. It is an extraordinary terrain both for sport and traditional climbing. Usually all routes are equipped or partially equipped with appropriate devices and bolts.
